Dwell on Design 2009 - Best of show by JG

I was able to visit the Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles this last weekend at the convention center to work with American Clay and see my friend Cyril at EcoStucco. I had some interesting discoveries and of course many inspiring designs that will only make me and my clients happier and healthier. My favorite part of the day was hanging out with Design Star cast/ interior designer Matte Locke so we shared tales of behind the scenes gossip (we I unfortunately can't share but I will give the highlights of the experience). He is a truly genuine man with loads of talent and spunk.

Here are my favorite items from the show

Woolly Pocket Garden Company
which seets soft sided modular nests for growing plants on YOUR WALLS! Yes I said, your walls. They are breathable and it is so cool I'm going to do it in my own home. Like today.

AGI grass rugs. I have always loved the smell of fresh cut grass but now you can have it indoors (well the grass but now you don't have to cut it) with this fake grass for indoor or outdoor. I'm just saying I would use this instead of carpet if I can't have cork or wood.

Last but not least the totally amazing Astek inc. which offers vintage recreations, removeable wall coverings with eco-friendly solutions. You can even design your own.

Zero VOC Paint that is safe and beautiful says the color consultant

As a color designer I not only think about what type of colors a paint manufacturer offers but also how the paint is going to affect my clients after its applied on the walls. As a painting contractor for years my crews and I tried many different paints which were low or zero VOC and there were many which fell short in application, ability for touch up and color options. Yolo Colorhouse is one of my favorites. My other go to paint is Aura by Benjamin Moore. Both are zero VOC, easy to apply, touch up and have a limited palette that doesn't overwhelm but inspires.
